Silver salts oxidized by the light, with deep blacks revealing a singular look.
My father, surveyor of mountain and sometimes urban paths, gathered a memory of the moment without frame or composition.
To subtract, to scratch, to expose the surface of the oxides; to reveal through drawing the palimpsest of a memorial link signed with the initial of my mother’s first name: that of long walks with shared silences.

David Meyer’s works touch me deeply. Their very personal messages refer to human questions, universal and timeless.
Drawing from the past to illuminate the present, making matter vibrate, forging raw materials are all means of expression to respond to the quest for meaning.
As a contemporary jewelry designer, I fully share this artistic approach and feel this compelling energy.

Ineffable emotional sting which points me, touches me…
In the dense and scrutinizing drawing, the epiphany of wonder summoning the alchemy of intense blacks and immaculate whites, voids full of promise.
In the jewel, the magic of the meeting of old pearls and precious metals offering in anfractuosities the traces of an artisanal gesture from which springs the emotion.

The spirits and forces of voodoo allow people to access the afterlife and
to attract their power and benevolence. Based on the power of nature and on tolerance, this cult attributes a spirit to each thing: human, animal, astral or vegetable.
It is this concordance of energy that the Meharanh and Matarengo galleries present in this new joint exhibition. The soul of voodoo is carried by Meharanh’s jewelry and reinforced by their proximity to ancient fetishes. Supports of wishes, border crossers, transmission of understanding and indulgence, this alliance resonates with ancient rites and contemporary creation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]To look is to discover. It is also to desire, to love, to create, to choose… The gaze does not only linger on the material but on less palpable sensations: a resonance, an energy, a strong presence, an attraction…
It is this look that Meharanh and Matarengo highlight in their exhibition where the interaction between contemporary jewelry and ancient African art invites to escape, to travel in another world, hypnotic, magnetic.
This dialogue between the timelessness of the lines of the jewelry and the power of the fetishes offers a look full of meaning between two worlds, between reality and beyond; it addresses the deepest part of our being linking the intimate and the universal.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
